The Voting Information Project connects voters with the essential information needed to cast their ballot. VIP works with state and location election officials to provide official election information to citizens through a variety of channels.
Parse through the California 2014 primary feed, the feeds of all 50 states and D.C. for one year or all years archived, or just focus in on one state in particular–the choice is yours. Integrate the data into a web or mobile application you develop in order to make the data easily available to voters and/or elections officials.
Work with the Google Civic Information API as your foundation to create a new user experience for voters who are seeking their polling place, leverage the data to develop an entirely new application, or simply produce a mashup with open data found outside of the API.
Help us update our existing code, fork an existing repository, come up with brilliant fixes, and create much-needed documentation. Where can it can be improved upon? Re-write, re-write it some more, and document that instead, so that other developers will have something incredibly solid to build off of going forward.
